Mariana Rabay’s painting emerges from a sensitive gesture and a finely tuned intuition.
Her works don’t aim to simply depict the world, but to move through it with emotion and
lyricism. What you see on her canvases are not just shapes or colors — they are
atmospheres. A blue that breathes, a red that pulses, a yellow that bends like a thought.
Each piece is a state of presence.
Her creative process is born from an intimate dialogue between two languages:
photography and painting. The camera is her sketchbook — the eye that freezes time
and anchors the memory of a landscape, an animal, a particular light. But it’s in the
studio where the true metamorphosis happens. What was once a record becomes a
sensation; what was still gains flow and vibration.
Mariana earned her degree in Art Education from the School of Fine Arts of São Paulo and
holds a postgraduate degree in Art History from FAAP. She began her artistic journey as a
teenager, painting in oils at the age of 14. Over the years, she has developed a solid
practice that blends technique, research, and surrender. In 2010, she was invited to
represent the state of São Paulo in an exhibition at the National Congress in Brasília,
nominated by Maria Bonomi.
Her artistic path is also deeply connected to photography — an attentive gaze toward
the moments that precede the act of painting. She transforms reality into an emotional
language, creating works that are born from observation but find freedom on the
canvas.
There is a deliberate care in her palette — an almost musical balance between colors
and their intensities. Her compositions build in layers, as if each brushstroke were a
translation of something that could never fit into words.
Mariana Rabay doesn’t paint scenes — she paints sensations. Her art is a space where
time slows down, where the gaze finds shelter, where color — alive, intuitive, and fluid —
becomes a way of existing in the world.
When we contemplate her work, we’re invited to take part in this alchemy. Her paintings
remind us that the most meaningful moments in life are rarely clear-cut; they’re a fusion
of color, light, and movement. Mariana Rabay’s art is an invitation to rediscover the
beauty and pulse that live within our own moments.
