Desire for beauty

With the eyes of someone who has never

physically stepped into the Amazon but

allowed herself to inhabit it from within,

Gianella charted invisible paths guided by

intuition. The forest, then, is not just a

backdrop: it becomes body, ancestral

memory, collective soul. In her words: “I

believe in projecting the soul. My surrender

was total. I floated inside it.”

The work that arises from this process is

more

than

representation;

it

is

manifestation. On her canvas, the jungle is

not depicted—it burns, it cries out, it

breathes, and it bleeds. The result is not

peace. It is truth. In the end, her art does

not give us an answer but a question

painted in silence and color:

How long will the forest endure if art—and

we—do nothing beyond simply observing?
